Submissions

Submitted works will be edited for space brevity, accuracy and style format in accordance to AP Style. Editors have the final say on all material published in the magazine. Any changes are at the discretion of the editorial staff.  

 

All material presented for publication is the sole ownership of Black Dragon Martial Arts Magazine. Please do not "double submit" articles. Once published, materials cannot be shared, or sold to other publications. Articles will be reviewed for publication in a timely fashion, any additions or changes to the article from the author must be submitted in writing.

 

If you have not yet written your article, it is best to inquire with editors to make sure that the  subject is fitting with the publication. The easiest way to do this is to simply send a one paragraph synopsis of your story to the editors.

 

Please submit articles in a word document, 12 point font in Times New Roman.  Submissions must include, within the work; author name, title, date of submission, and when applicable, a one sentence synopsis.  Submissions must adhere to the word count given, or if no word count is assigned, remain under 1,500 words.

 

Images should be of high quality, at 300 dpi, in jpeg, tiff, psd, or ai when possible. A total of 4 or more images are needed to complete your story. You must own the images or video and have permission to use them by the creator. They should not be branded or contain overlays. Videos should be the highest quality possible, preferably MP4, for larger videos contact the editors. 

 

We are a publication dedicated to sharing our martial art experiences, and intend to foster this in the spirit of friendship. Please refrain from personal attacks, controversial subject matter, or negative comments about other systems. We are all here to learn from one another and to share our experiences in a positive way.

 

For unsolicited material please keep to the subject matter of martial arts. That being said, here is the non-legalese. We edit your submissions because we look good when you look good. We will try to keep it to the space available, check for typos and grammar. We do not want to steal your voice in your writing, but as every writer will tell you it is always best to have someone else give it a look, to catch anything you missed.
